A few days in Mancos

Dustin got up early this day and took pics with the girls, Kirk and drinking hot chocolate. These are definitely chocoholics in the making!

A night at the Bar D Chuckwagon for dinner and a show. These guys were very talented and hilarious! I haven't been here since I was about 12.

Dustin and I made a special trip to Durango, about 45 minutes from my in-laws house to see my grandma.
Me and my Grandma, Ruby!
We had a great breakfast together- she made toast, eggs, juice, muffins, bacon; and we all sat around and talked on the porch after we were stuffed full. I wish I could see Grandma more often! I love her very much.
My grandma's house that my family would go to at least every other summer growing up.
At Dustin's parents' house they have this feeder, and if you are taking it out with a full tank of sugar water they will dive bomb your head- they have done it to Debbie, and she gave us some good laughs with her stories.
Skylar, Zoey, and baby Gwenevere (Gwenie)
Dustin's big sister Lindsay- she kept saying she didn't like pictures and wasn't photogenic, but I think she is!! She has a pretty smile!

We had a night of s'mores around the fire in the backyard.
This is Skylar, she entertained herself very well with her stick and cowboy hat just poking aorund in bushes and singing to herself. It was super cute to watch.

Hovenweep National Park

This was very similar to Mesa Verde, and since we didn't do that this time, this was a very cool place to go. I don't think many people know about it because none of us knew about it, and it's really out in the middle of no man's land; But I guess everything like this is.
I thought this was cool- I guess this is what our early Mormon pioneers used as tea.

Hiking around

I liked this house because it looked very camouflaged that you couldn't tell it was there even if you were walking over it. Don't worry, we didn't walk over it. We couldn't.
These were called the twin towers

I like this view with the mountains in the back.

This is called the Hovenweep Castle
It was so cool to see all the houses at the edges of the cliffs... though we thought they probably didn't start out so close to the edge, and maybe erosion to the cliffs made them that way.

We were discussing how the cliff looks like over the years has just started falling off at the edges; hence the huge boulders looking like they are falling down the sides.

View from the bottom of the canyon
I couldn't look more like a tourist.. unless I add on a fannypack.

Such a handsome guy

From Fish Lake to Mancos, Colorado

On our road trip we were followed by one storm in particular and were behind another the whole way. This is actually hail from the previous storm we just barely missed. It looked like snow on the ground. Glad we missed it!!
These are some views at a rest stop- bathroom breaks were kinda fun on this road.

Another view point. Dustin and I didn't want to miss any stop to take pictures. His parents got a little annoyed I'm sure at us wanting to stop at all these places. I figured, we probably won't be seeing these things again, so I wanted to take it all in.

This storm followed us almost all the way to Mancos, Colorado. We were running to different spots here taking pictures so we could beat the raid since it got us at the last rest stop.
Thinking about going out to the end of this thing...

it's pretty evident we are on a raodtrip by our messy hair, tired eyes, and my non--made-up face and Dustin's nonshaven face..

I wouldn't go out any further than this- too scary for me. It doesn't look that scary in the picture...and it was windy too!
Dustin's running back because the rain and thunder were getting closer and we thought we should make our trek back to the car.
