One month old

Our little Garrett is one month old!! That was the fastest month of my life! He weighed at his 3 week check 9lbs 12oz. I think he's growing just fine.

Poor little guy was hungry and ready for a bath here, but I had to get a photo with him in the onesie Uncle Russell and Tina got him. It's definitely our favorite outfit of them all!

I meant to print out a page that said 'one month' so I could keep track, but I guess I'll do that for next month. He will however keep the hungry little caterpillar in his monthly photos so we can see his growth! We think he's such a handsome little guy. We just love him to pieces!

Garrett's Blessing

On Sunday August 7, 2011 Garrett was given a name and blessing in church. What a wonderful Sunday it was! I am so thankful for my eternal family and the wonderful blessings of the priesthood in my life.

Our sweet little family

Garrett was perfect during the blessing and all through the meeting. Not a peep! He slept the whole time. Dustin said that the reason he was quiet during the blessing itself was because he was messing his diaper. Kinda funny really.

Uncle Gabe and Uncle Russell were able to drive down for the weekend and participate in the blessing at church! It was so great to have them here. I love my brothers!
(They had to leave right after church..hence the casual clothing)

My wonderful family. We are missing a few extra members, but it was so great to have some family with us to join in on the wonderful blessing of Garrett. He is going to have a blast as he grows up with cousins and aunts and uncles and grandparents who love him to pieces!

Garrett's Arrival

July 14, 2011 was not only my birthday, but the birthday of our first child, Garrett Riley Stubbs!

39 weeks and my last pregnancy photo!

Just waiting to be taken in to the OR to be prepped for the c-section.

Sooo attractive!

July 14, 2011 at 8:13 AM Garrett Riley Stubbs enters the world!

Here's a picture of my heart shaped bicornate uterus. One cause of much concern through my pregnancy, but everything turned out just fine in the end!

Our favorite first photo!

My first kiss to my sweet Garrett

Dustin was absolutely beaming the entire time he was with Garrett!

8 lbs 0.7 oz and 20 1/2 inches long!

I love Dustin's smile in these pictures. It shows the absolute giddy-ness we felt to finally welcome our sweet baby boy.

I can't even convey the happiness and peace I feel that Garrett is here with us. We are loving every minute with him. Breastfeeding got off to a perfect start with a strong latch and great feedings. Things though became a little tough a few days later as my incision became infected and I came down with burning thrush! Pumping has been my best friend, but I'm glad I got about 3 weeks of really good nursing in before I needed to take a break to heal. Garrett takes to a bottle and back to the breast as easy as pie. He's so smart! He sleeps wonderfully, about 3 hours every time with an occasional 4 hour stretch.
Being a mom has taken on a new meaning, and I have a greater appreciation now for my mom and all mothers out there and the hard work it is to take care of a newborn. I love being a mother, and I love that Dustin is already such an amazing father. Garrett has completed our little circle. We are so thankful for his sweet spirit in our home.

Garrett's Arrival part 2

I love little feet!! His toes and fingers are really long- perfect for his future piano lessons! His fingers anyway...

Dustin was able to give Garrett his first bath in the hospital. He said Garrett loved having the water poured over his hair!

Aunt Keisha and a super cute picture everyone!
Grandpa and Grandma Stubbs drove down and surprised Dustin in the hospital parking lot!

This is one of my favorite pictures of Garrett. Too bad his little sharp nails got to his cheek that day!
Getting ready to head home! I decided I wanted to look halfway decent leaving the hospital. The day before I was so nervous about going home and would've loved to stay a few more days, but in the morning I felt better about leaving the security of the hospital nurses and doctors.

My mom was working the day I was going home, so she was able to see us off! We actually had to have her help in adjusting the car-seat straps....we were clearly new parents in every way.

It is tradition in my family that the daddy gives the new baby his first bath at home. Dustin already had given him his first bath in the hospital, so he was a pro by the time we got home! Dustin is already such an amazing father. I'm so lucky to have him, and so is Garrett.

This was too cute to miss with the camera. It's like he's saying, "Enough with the photos!"
We love our little Garrett Riley!
